Road Trip: Day 1
The first day of my trip I left after work and made it to Manning park where I camped the first night. Most of this day was spent driving with the occasional stop along the way. The first stop I made was to catch the sun sliding behind the mountains just as I left the Fraser valley right before I pulled into Hope.
If was very hazy, from the heat and smog for most of my trip as well as smoke from wild fires.

My last stop of the day before setting up camp was the Hope slide. The Hope slide is one of the largest landslides in Canada. On January 9th 1965 a minor earthquake triggered this massive slide killing 4 people who had stopped due to an avalanche. The slide measured 3 KM wide and 85m thick and contained 46 million cubic meters of rock. Little or no vegitation has grown back since then and it gives you an idea of how massive the slide really was.
I have edited this image a few times and am still not satisfied with it so it may change, but it gives you an idea of how massive the slide was.
